0190	Moyasu decides to help the captured Mikomi on the surface. Lightning breaks loose from Zesshou’s hold and races through the water to the cave to save Nagata. Thanks to the confusion, Wevles and Hana grab their weapons and kill of the remaining Sendo soldiers. Moyasu takes care of Wevlum’s wound but races off after that.	Part 20

Part 20: Mermaid

Moyasu sat in her hiding tree, pondering of what to do. Looking at the 6 remaining Sendo warriors who guarded Hana, Wevles and the wounded Wevlum filled her with burning rage. But should she reveal herself to the Mikomi?

Zesshou tried to keep Lightning calm. Lightning knew that Nagata was in trouble, so he wanted to help him. Zesshou didn’t know what to do. He had to help the others, but with no weapon available that was impossible. If only he was a few years older, he would have battle training. With Lightning pulling at the brittles so much, Zesshou couldn’t think well.

Moyasu made up her mind. She couldn’t resist giving these Sendo warriors what they deserved, and help a wounded man. She took an arrow and placed it on her bow. While aiming at the first Sendo warrior, the stone in her necklace started to glow. ZWOOSH…the arrow hit the Sendo right in his neck, killing him instantly.

Panic took control of the remaining five. Quickly Moyasu grabbed another arrow, but stopped because she heard a horse galloping closer. Lightning had pulled himself loose from Zesshou’s grip and was now galloping straight for the lake. While he seriously wounded a Sendo warrior by running right over him, Lightning ran into the lake and swam to the other side. He entered the passage, going out of sight.

With the panic all over the four healthy and one badly wounded Sendo warriors, Wevles and Hana didn’t hesitate and grabbed their swords, finishing off the remaining Sendo’s. After the fight was over they walked back at Wevlum, and saw a girl at his side, taking care of his wound.

“Who…are…you?” Wevlum managed to say.

“Don’t talk to me Mikomi, I only help you because I was raised that way.” Moyasu snapped.

With a few herbs and some ripped of clothes as a bandage Moyasu treated Wevlum’s wound. When she was done, she wanted to go away, but was stopped by Zesshou, who had come walking to them. Zesshou looked deep in her eyes and smiled, putting out his hand. Moyasu looked at his hand, but rejected it, running away from them. Zesshou looked at her with a disappointed face. He had hoped to become friends with their mysterious helper.

Meanwhile in the cave, Kino is still trapped and Nagata is under some serious negotiation. Nagata was a strong man, a bit on the sensitive side, but a man with a strong will. It was that strong will which kept him from telling everything to the Sendo. His head hurt and both his eyes were punched blue. On the floor was some vomit from Nagata throwing up after a punch in his stomach, but Nagata kept his mouth shut. He was lucky, because after one last hard punch against his head, he collapsed on the floor being knocked out cold.

Kalaklop, kalaklop, it was the sound of Lightning running up to his best friend. He bashed right through the Sendo and stood protectively in front of Nagata.

“Well well well.” Kyen Koh said, “It seems like we have something to let him talk once he comes to.”

Wevli walked down the corridors, which were surprisingly not much.

“WAAAAAHHH!!!!” Something came falling from the ceiling, screaming like it was dying. When Wevli took a closer look he saw that is was Hitori.

“Lady Hitori, thank Afrian you are alright.” Wevli said with a relieve.

“I should watch my step next time.” Hitori growled, feeling her sour butt on which she landed on the hard ground. “We’ve got to find Nagata, Wevli, I heard him screaming a few times.”

“And something strange is happening as well lady Hitori.” Wevli said, “All the walls seem to collapse, and a strange girl helped me.”

Hitori looked at Wevli, made a hesitating nod about the girl part and started walking, in search for Nagata. After a while they heard horse sounds and a few people talking. They hid themselves and carefully tried to look at what was going on. They recognized the people as the Sendo, the horse as Lightning, but who was that man lying on the floor?

“There is only one man Lightning would protect with his life, Nagata.” Hitori whispered. “So that’s why I heard Nagata screaming.”

They saw Kyen Koh giving orders to a few warriors to continue destroying switches. They had to help Nagata, before it was too late

“Wevli listen carefully.” Hitori whispered, “We will charge on to them and try to break through. Then we’ll grab Nagata and jump on Lightning, making a run for it.”

It was not a good plan, but it was a plan. Wevli nodded and they prepared themselves.

“Ready my lady?” Wevli asked.

Hitori nodded and started to count down. “…3..2..1 GO!!!” She shouted and started to run at the Sendo with Wevli right behind her. In their unawareness of what was happening, a path became visible in the Sendo line. Hitori quickly grabbed Nagata and jumped on Lightning, immediately followed by Wevli and they stormed away. Left turn, right turn, straight ahead, they went on in the maze, until there was no way further.

In difference to the other rooms, which were dark, this room was as bright as day. The light came from a beautiful blue gem, lying in the hands of a little girl.

“Well it took you long enough.” The girl pointed out.

Hitori and Wevli both didn’t know what to say. It made the little girl giggle.

“You didn’t expect to find a little girl guarding the Pearl of the Ocean right?” The girl said between her giggle, “That stupid note at the entrance is just a way to keep cowards out of here. My name is Mermaid, and I am the guardian of the Pearl of the Ocean. Although, the Sendo disturbed your test, you have shown that you are capable of working together and helping your friends in need. Therefore I hand you the Pearl of the Ocean.” Mermaid said and she handed the gem to Hitori.

“Thank you.” Was all Hitori managed to say, “I’m really sorry about what happened to your maze.” She said when she recovered a little.

Mermaid giggled again, “Don’t worry it has happened before. This maze can repair itself. Even better, the Sendo are now locked in and your friend is free. Go and find my brothers and sisters chosen one.” Mermaid said while she walked away into the maze, leaving Hitori, Wevli, Nagata and Lightning behind.
